Wilma Reese Bare

September 6, 1940—December 28, 2025

Wilma Jean Reese Bare passed away on December 28, 2025. She was born in Salem, Virginia. Daughter of the late Buren and Bertie Reese. She was preceded in death by her two infant sons; five brothers

s; and one sister.

She loved getting her family and friends together for the holidays and special events. Christmas was her favorite time of the year. She would always cook a big meal, but opening presents was her favorite, and it always came first. She always wanted to open them as soon as everyone was there.

She was a selfless woman that cared about other people's wants and needs above her own. Nothing made her happier than to make someone else happy.

Those left to cherish her memory include her devoted husband, Johnny Bare; her son, Cubby Bare and wife Debbie; her granddaughter, Alyssa Bare Lamb and husband Jarod; her grandsons, Travis Horne, and Christopher Gamble; her sweet great-grandchildren, Layla Lamb and Gavin Lamb; seven nieces; six nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. She is also survived by her special friends, Leona Willis, Jackie Morgan, Judy Wilson, and Alice Osborne.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 2, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Victory Baptist Church, with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 P.M. officiated by Pastor Austin Cook. A committal service will follow, going in procession, to Knollkreg Memorial Park & Cremation Gardens in Abingdon, VA.
