Wayne Childress, 65, of the Brumley Gap community, Abingdon, Va., passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2021, at Johnston Memorial Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Dennis Childress and Retha Kennedy Keith; two brothers, Leslie Childress and Charles Nelson Childress; and three sisters, Maxine Hill, Wilma Fields and Wanda Fredrick.
Wayne enjoyed fishing and was a loyal Washington Redskins fan.
Survivors include two sisters, Lois Wise and husband Mike of the Brumley Gap community, and Patsy Fields of Alabama; ten nephews and two nieces.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., on Sunday, September 5, 2021, at Counts Cemetery with Rev. Paul Price and Pastor Steve McCready officiating. Family and friends will gather at the cemetery by 1:45 p.m.
His nephews will serve as pallbearers.
