Virgie Eskridge

Virgie Lee Eskridge, of the Denton Valley community, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 27, 2022, surrounded by her family.


A lifelong resident of Washington County, she was born on December 20, 1936 to Bev and Amanda Montgomery. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Willis Curtis “Red” Eskridge. Virgie loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and was a dedicated member of Cedar Bluff Church. She was also a member of the O.E.S. Lodge No. 182 of Abingdon.


She enjoyed watching soap operas and was an avid animal lover. In her spare time, she also enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, her specialty was “wheat clusters”.


She is survived by her four children, Beverly Eskridge of Barnesville, GA, Wayne Eskridge and fiancé, Amanda Phillips of Shady Valley, Tenn., Annie Gobble of Abingdon, and James Eskridge of Bristol, Tenn. and fiancé, Teresa Isaac of Johnson City, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Amanda Cook , husband Jake , Brandon Eskridge, Derek Gobble, Jordan Gobble, and Lexi Eskridge and special friend, John Manuel.


Funeral services for Virgie Eskridge will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 1, 2022, in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Dixon and Bro. Junior Gobble officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. Committal service and interment will be 11 a.m., Thursday at Montgomery Cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m., for a procession to the cemetery.
