Vernie Harrison Miller, aged 76, passed away on November 1, 2024, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Born on April 5, 1948, Vernie led a fulfilling life marked by devotion to his family and service to his country.
Vernie proudly served in the Air Force, a commitment that reflected his dedication and love for his country. Post-military, he embarked on a long career as a truck driver, a job he cherished, especially when behind the wheel of his beloved 379 Peterbilt truck.
A lifelong member of the Greenfield Baptist Church, Vernie's faith was a cornerstone of his existence, guiding him through his life's journey. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, always prioritizing time with his family.
He enjoyed numerous hobbies, including golf, hunting, following Alabama football, and watching NASCAR races.
Vernie is survived by his wife, Lynn Miller; daughters, Victoria Miller-Rasnick and Dianne M. Phibbs; son, Vernie Daniel (Ruth) Miller; grandchildren, Greggory A. Miller (Jordan), Cody A. Rasnick (Elizabeth), Mckenzie D. Miller, and Kayden E. Miller; and great-grandchildren, Kolbi and Willow Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Elizabeth Miller.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday November 8th,2024 at Greenfield Baptist Church with a visitation from 1pm-3pm service to follow at 3pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Vernie's memory to the Wounded Warriors Project or St. Jude's Children's Hospital, causes he deeply cared about. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him and the community he so profoundly impacted.
