Tivis McKinley Wright, Jr.

Tivis McKinley Wright, Jr., 82, of Abingdon, Va., passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at Johnston Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Clinchburg, Va., on March 6, 1936, to the late Tivis McKinley Wright, Sr. and Ila Nora Smith Wright. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two brothers, James and Roy Wright and two sisters, Zella Dutton and Dorothy Osborne.

Tivis was retired from Appalachian Power Company after 30 years of service and attended Fellowship Baptist Church in Meadowview, Va.

Survivors include his wife, Janie Wright of Abingdon, Va.; one daughter, Kim Mathews and husband, Dan of Fripp Island, SC; one special grandson, Adam Mathews of Abingdon, Va., and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 2 to 3:45 p.m., Saturday, February 9, 2019, in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel. A memorial service will follow at 4 p.m., with Pastor Chad Johnson officiating.
