Timothy Dale McClure

August 7, 1950 – October 22, 2025

Timothy Dale McClure, age 75, of Taylors Valley, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Johnston Memorial Hospital.

A lifelong resident of Taylors Valley, Tim was well known and loved throughout his community. He proudly referred to himself as the self-proclaimed “Mayor of Taylors Valley.” He was born on August 7, 1950, to the late John and Kathleen McClure.

Tim worked for many years with Sterling Casket Company and was also skilled in various types of construction throughout his life. Known for his humor, kindness, and easygoing spirit, Tim could often be found surrounded by friends and family, enjoying music, painting, and karaoke. He loved his cat, Socks.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Kathleen Thompson McClure, and his brother, Donald Lee McClure.

Left to cherish his memory are his aunt, who was like a second mother, Neva Thompson McClure; his stepmother, Evelyn McClure; brother, Rick McClure and wife Patti; and sister, Pam Cole and husband Jay. He is also survived by his nephew who was like a son, Matthew McClure and wife Kahla, and their son, Ryder McClure, who was like a grandson to Tim.

Additional survivors include nieces Cynthia McClure and Katie Litton; nephew Robbie Phillips; several great-nieces and nephews; numerous cousins; and his girlfriend, Peggy Brown, who brought him much happiness and contentment in his final days.

Tim was a member of Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren and will be remembered for his love of life, laughter, and the people of Taylors Valley who meant so much to him.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 3:00 P.M. at Jackson Lewis Cemetery in Taylors Valley, Virginia with Maurice Widener officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 2:45 P.M.
