Susan E. Villiard, 73, of Abingdon, Va., passed from this life into the presence of her Lord and savior Jesus Christ on July 17, 2018, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center after a long fight against cancer.
Though she succumbed to the disease cancer did not defeat her. She beat cancer by the way she lived while she lived. She lived a beautiful life, serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, loving and caring for her family and friends, helping those in need and bringing joy to all she met.
She was a member of Green Spring Presbyterian Church and attended Edgemont Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Scott and Ruby Shumate.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, F.L. Villiard; four children, Rick Villiard (Jane), Rebecca Crabtree (Scott), Matt Villiard (Barbara) and Andre’ Villiard (Tammy); eight grandchildren, Alex, Tori, Gracie, Ian, Ethan, Abbie, Aryn and Amy; two great grandchildren, Aly and Andy; one brother, Sam Shumate (Martha) and a host of other family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 2018, in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Aaron Bartmess officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Knollkreg Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Scott Crabtree, Walter Lawson, John Roberts, Eric Collins, Phil Price and David Tilson. Johnny Lowry will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
