Steve Jeffery Jackson

Abingdon, VA.

Steve Jeffery Jackson passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Monday, January 18, 2021. He was born on October 11, 1958 in Saltville, VA to his parents, James and Betty Jackson. He was a hard worker all of his life, doing various jobs such as truck driving, construction, surface mining, and even started his own grading and excavating business. For the last ten years, he has been employed with VDOT.

Anyone that knew Steve knew that he was quite a character. His granddaughters were the absolute light of his life. He loved riding motorcycles, four wheelers, being outside, camping, bonfires, and one

of his favorite things to do was having huge cookouts during the summertime with as many people as possible joining him. He worked hard all of his life and built a cabin in the mountains in which he lived with his three dogs. Steve hosted many parties, bonfires, and campouts over the years and loved “to eat good food.” He was also a wonderful storyteller and could make the past memories come alive through his stories. There are so many wonderful stories and memories.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents, James and Betty Lou Jackson; his daughter, Amanda Fisher; his sister, Mary Walker; his brother, Joseph Jackson; and two very special ladies, Ann Murray and Chris Cutshall.

Survivors include his daughter, Christine Jackson Davenport and husband Cody of Abingdon, VA.; two granddaughters, Rosie and Lily Davenport of Abingdon, VA.; brother, Howard Jackson of Wytheville, VA.; Keisha Anderson of Abingdon, VA. who he loved just like a daughter; several special cousins; an endless list of wonderful friends whom he loved dearly; and three dogs, Hans, Nikko, and Annie.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Frost Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Stephen McCready officiating.
