Shirley Eastridge Brown

Ms. Shirley Eastridge Brown went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 5, 2025. She was born to the late Conley and Martha Eastridge and was a lifelong resident of Damascus, Virginia.

Shirley had a deep love for the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and she enjoyed many quiet moments reading books and taking walks on the beach. A devoted Christian, she was a longtime member of Cedar Bluff United Methodist Church, where her faith and love for others were evident in all she did.

Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Ruby Cheek, and her two brothers, John and Bobby Eastridge.

She leaves behind her four children: David Brown (Judy), Larry Brown (Cindy Freeman), Randy Brown (Shannon), and Connie Brown. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Travis Brown (Hillary), Jamie Brown, Samantha Vaughan (friend Steven), Derek Brown (Mica), and Greg Miller (Jordan), and seven great-grandchildren: Carter Brown, Conner Brown, Gracie Fisher, Aubrey Fisher, Easton Brown, Everly Brown, and Willow Miller.

In addition to her children and grandchildren, Shirley is survived by one nephew Marcus Hurtado (Becky), one niece Patsy Cornett, her special companion, Jerry Vaughan, her lifetime friend, Bill Thomas, and her devoted caregiver, Mica Brown. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Mica for her loving care during Shirley's final years.

Shirley will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of kindness, faith, and love will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

A graveside service for Shirley will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Zion Cemetery with Bill Thomas officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to be at the cemetery by 10:45 A.M.
