Mrs. Sharene Gail “Sandy” Aven, 60, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at the Johnson City Medical Center.
She was born December 7, 1961 in Grundy, Virginia to the late Eddie and Gaynell Prater Silcox. Sandy was a well-known hairdresser, the best cook, some called her the “dessert queen," and always thought of others before herself; she never met a stranger. She was a faithful member of the Macedonia Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Silcox.
She is survived by her husband, John Aven of Abingdon; her loving daughter, Whitney Scyphers and husband B.J. of Abingdon; two very special grandsons who were her pride and joy, Brycen and Hudcen Scyphers; one brother, Jimmy Silcox of Abingdon; one niece, Kristen Presley; one nephew, Eric Silcox; many friends also survive.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 6, 2022 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the Frost Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 P.M. in the funeral home chapel with Minister Ron Musick officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers will be B.J. Scyphers, Charlie Presley, Ryan Prater, Billy Scyphers, Randy Flemming and Jimmy Silcox. The men of the Macedonia Church of Christ will serve as honorary pallbearers.
