Samuel Otto Statzer Jr., passed away February 1, 2022 at the Russell County Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
He was born January 12, 1944 to the late Samuel O Statzer and Nancy Joann Statzer in Russell County, VA.
He was an accomplished and skilled carpenter who after working all day would farm of the evenings. After retirement he was left to enjoy his farming with his loving wife Faye.
In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Faye and infant son. Two sisters, Jorita Horne and Darcella Campbell, one brother Mike Statzer. Sam was also preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law Ralph and Kathleen Carty.
Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters, Yvonne (Wayne) Cook and Cindy Rasnake. Four grandchildren Morgan (Caleb) Robinette, Rachel (Trey) Gilreath, Gunnar (Kristen) Rasnake, Blake (Mackenzie) Rasnake. Four great grandchildren Adelyn, Nolan, Sawyer and Jaxon. Three brothers, Roger Statzer, Gary Statzer and Rick Statzer. Two sisters, Teresa Hicks and Cathy Short. His faithful companion and fur baby Copper.
Visitation will be held from 11 A.M. until 1 P.M. Saturday, February 05, 2022 in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service will be held following visitation at Temple Hill Memorial Park with pastor Gary Harless officiating. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 12:45 P.M. to go into procession.
Pallbearers will be Gunnar Rasnake, Blake Rasnake, Trey Gilreath, Caleb Robinette, Robbie Hicks and Kevin Hicks. Honorary pallbearers will be brothers and brothers-in-law.
