Samuel D. Rock, 67, of Bristol, Virginia passed away January 6, 2023, at this home.
Samuel was born August 25, 1955 in Washington County, Virginia to the late Kenneth and Mary Hobbs Rock. Samuel was a 1973 graduate of John Battle High School where he was a member of the FFA. After graduation, Samuel was a true farmer and spent most of his career as a dairy and tobacco farmer. He was also a regular vendor at the State Street and Abingdon Farmers’ Markets and a board member for Southern States in Bristol. Samuel adored his grandchildren above all and cherished time spent with them.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Deborah Bolling Rock; two sons, Jacob David Rock and wife Michelle, and William Jared Rock; four grandchildren, Kenneth David Rock; Addison Faith Rock, Samuel Grant Rock, and Lilah Grace Rock; aunt, Marcia Robertson; several cousins; his dog Peaches; his cat, Marshmellow; a large host of friends also survive.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at Frost Funeral Home. A service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Frost Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Ketron officiating with a committal service following to Mtn. View Cemetery, Bristol, VA.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jacob Rock, Charlie Puckett, Landon Jenkins, Kevin Leonard, Kevin Rush, Hershel Blessing, Michael Countiss, and David McIlvane.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth David Rock, Eugene Latham, Vilas Sims, Danny Sims, and Jim White.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Washington County Life Saving Crew and the Washington County Sheriff’s office for always being there when needed.
