Ruth Leonard Warren, 92, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. She was born on August 14, 1933, to the late Robert and Ada Leonard.

Ruth graduated from Greendale High School in 1950 and had made her home in the Wyndale community since 1961. She had a lifelong love for reading, gardening, flowers, and canning—she could preserve just about anything. Most of all, she cherished time spent with her family.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Albert “Johnnie” Warren; two daughters, Cynthia Warren and Susan Barr; and her siblings, Cleo Leonard, Onetha Hicks, Orvis Leonard, Curtis Leonard, Jim Leonard, and Raymond Leonard.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy Tharpe and husband Steve; her son, Jeff Warren; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Monday, October 6, 2025, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Frost Funeral Home Chapel in Abingdon, Virginia. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 P.M. with Carolyn Kidd officiating. Interment will take place on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Forest Hills Memory Gardens in Abingdon, Virginia. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:45 A.M.
