Mr. Roy Ernest Lowe, age 80, of Abingdon, Va., passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at Valley Healthcare Center.
He was born June 27, 1938, in Washington County, Va., to the late Clarence Harrington Lowe and Winnie Mae Watson Lowe. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Lowe and a brother, Clarence Lowe, Jr.
Ernest was retired from Century Link and United Inter Mountain Telephone Company. He was of the Christian faith. Ernest was an avid hunter and liked to spend time and loaf with his buddies.
He is survived by two children, Mark Lowe and wife, Tammy of Gate City, Va. and Julie Gobble and husband, Rick of Abingdon, Va.; three grandchildren, Clint Lowe and Cara Lowe both of Gate City, Va., and Ryan Gobble of Abingdon, Va.; one sister, Lillian Osborne of Abingdon, Va.; a niece, Terri Osborne and two nephews, Jackie and Tom Osborne all of Abingdon, Va.; and a special brother-in-law, Mike Milhorne of Taylors Valley, Va.
The family would like to thank his many friends for their prayers, calls and visits.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7:45 p.m. Thursday, September 27, 2018, in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel. A service will follow at 8 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. John Stapleton officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Washington County Relay for Life or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
