Roy Baumgardner

Roy Baumgardner, 67, went to be with the Lord, November 24, 2018 at Johnston Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 1, 1951 the son of the late Everett and Eulala Parks Baumgardner and was a lifelong resident of the Alvarado and Bethel Community. He was retired from the Ball Corporation and worked as a farmer raising both cattle and tobacco. He was a member of the Greenwood Freewill Baptist Church and he attended Beulah Baptist. He was a very special man who loved his wife, children and all of his grandchildren with all of his heart. He worked many hours on his job and on the farm to provide for them. He was also preceded in death by a special nephew, Rick Baumgardner and a special sister-in-law, Phyllis Baumgardner.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ruby M. Baumgardner of the home; three daughters, Christy Black of Chilhowie, Virginia, Regina Widener and husband Charlie of Chilhowie, Virginia and Robin Johnson and husband Rob of Alvarado, Virginia; three sons, Chris Baumgardner and wife Robin of Chilhowie, Virginia, Shawn Lawson and wife Tonya of Glade Spring, Virginia and Nick Baumgardner of Abingdon, Virginia; three sisters, Velvet Salyers, Violet Hicks and Karen Kestner; five brothers, Bea Baumgardner, June Baumgardner, Don Baumgardner, David Baumgardner and Mark Baumgardner; 23 grandchildren, Tyler, Nathan, Hunter, Hannah, Chase, Chelsea, Trevor, Trenton Kynlea, Coty, Justin, Landon, Leland, Blake Laken, David, Hayley Katie, Kaden, Auden Eli, Dustin and Sierra; 5 great-grandchildren, Kayleigh, Remi, Peyton, Khreid and Addie.

Funeral services for Mr. Roy Baumgardner will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dewayne Dillard and Rev. Mark Baumgardner officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Baumgardner Family Cemetery in the Alvarado section of Washington County, Virginia. The family will receive friends at the Frost Funeral Home Chapel from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday evening. Active pallbearers will be Sons, Grandsons and Son-In-Laws and the honorary pallbearers will be the men and women he worked with at The Ball Corporation. Flowers will be accepted of donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial Processing, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105-9959 in honor of his two grandsons, Eli and Coty that were served by St. Judes.
