ABINGDON, Va.
Roger Wayne Walls Sr. age 73, passed peacefully at his home on Friday, May 18, 2018, surrounded by his family.
Roger was a proud Veteran of the Vietnam War and the recipient of a Purple Heart for injuries received during his service. His family and friends will remember his infectious grin and grand sense of humor. Roger deeply loved his family.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years Dianne (Mom), son Roger Wayne Walls, daughter Melissa Morenings (Micky), daughter Kathy Scott (Jimmy) and Samantha Walls (Reed). Also survived by his pride and joys whom he deeply loved, his grandchildren: Bretta, Marissa, Matthew, Emily, Madeline, Kaden, Malakai. His is also survived by siblings Larry Walls (Becky), Ronnie Walls (Ruth), Kenneth Walls (Phyllis), Thomas Walls (Anne), Randall Walls (Dana), and Judy Beatty (Larry). Further survivors include Diane’s brothers and sisters and their spouse as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Special to Roger was his cousin Juanita Martineau and very close friends Kemery (Lisa) Street.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, May 20, 2018, in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel with the funeral service immediately following with Minister Tom Crise officiating. Entombment with Military Honors by the Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the Virginia National Guard Honors Team will be held at Knollkreg Memorial Park following the service.
