Roger Malcolm White

Roger Malcolm White, 78, of Abingdon, Va., passed away at 4:11 a.m., on Sunday, April 18, 2021, after complications following a stroke.


He was born on May 10, 1942, in Washington County, Va., to the late Warren and Ethel Andis White. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Cecilia Simcox White and one brother, Berl Lee White.


Roger was a member of the last graduating class of Wallace High School in 1959. He was retired from Vulcan Material Co. where he worked over 40 years as a scale clerk. Roger was a member of the York Masonic Lodge No. 12 and also a member of Mensa. He was an avid reader, enjoyed brain games and had an extreme interest in space and science.


Survivors include one son, Lee White and wife, Lisa; one granddaughter, Akeyla Castleman and husband, Seth; four grandsons, Nathanael Robinson and wife, Catie, Zachary Robinson, Micah Robinson and wife, Tory and Sam Robinson; two great grandchildren, Annabel and Sage; and one great grandson due in July; one aunt, Daisy Wampler; his loving girlfriend, Kathy Gallucci and her family; and special friends, Steve and Shelia Booher, Carolynn Cornett, Sally Duty, Joe and Bea Andis and numerous cousins.


Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 20, 2021, in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel. Masonic funeral rites will follow at 7 p.m., Tuesday in the chapel by York Masonic Lodge No. 12. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday at Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Rev. Jerry A. Eggers officiating. Family and friends are asked to gather at the cemetery by 1:45 p.m.


In lieu of flowers memorial gifts are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105.


In accordance with Covid-19 regulations, the funeral home requests the use of face coverings and social distancing practices while attending the services.
