Roger Lee Tignor, of Abingdon, Va., passed away at his home on Monday, December 17, 2018.
Roger was born in Russell County, Va., on June 7, 1946, the son of the late Harry and Myrtle Eileen Tignor. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Giles Tignor.
Roger was a veteran of the United States Army and also spent many years serving in the Army Reserves. He was an employee of Pioneer Chevrolet at the time of his death. He had previously worked for Valleydale Packers and Hughes Camper Sales.
Roger was a member of Green Spring Presbyterian Church where he was presently serving as an elder.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Sandra Keller Tignor; two sons, Jerry Brownlow and wife, Judy, and Billy Brownlow and wife, Donna; four brothers, Sammy Tignor and wife, Jewell, Kyle Tignor and wife, Donna, Larry Tignor and wife, Stephanie; one sister, Linda Gobble and husband, Larry; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 5 to 6:45 p.m., Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at Green Spring Presbyterian Church, 22007 Green Spring Church Rd., Abingdon, Va., 24211. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Jon Martin officiating. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, December 20, 2018, in Green Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Family and friends will gather at the cemetery by 10:45 a.m.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Smith, Steve Smith, Jay Hooper, Kyle Hughes, David Eaton, Walter Keller, Wes Keller, Ken Pope, Steve Pope, Kevin Pope, Greg Crabtree, John Arney and Larry Coeburn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Watauga Chapel, or Green Spring Presbyterian Cemetery Fund.
