Robert Wayne Edwards
Robert Wayne Edwards, age 84, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 9, 2021 at Johnston Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 28, 1937, in Dickenson County, Virginia, a son of the late Archie Edwards and Emma Viers Edwards. He lived in the Clintwood area most of his life before moving to Abingdon 35 years ago. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a self-employed machinist and was owner of Production Machine Company for over 20 years. He faithfully attended Greendale Chapel as long as his health permitted.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Keith Edwards; and two brothers, Edmund Edwards and Woodrow Edwards.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Mona Stanley Edwards; one son, Brandon Edwards and wife Vicki of Abingdon; one sister, Edna Thomas and husband Frank of Bristol, VA; one brother, Delmon Edwards and wife Wanda of Michigan; two sisters-in-law, Joy Edwards of Michigan and Gaye Edwards of Clintwood; one grandson, Seth Edwards of Abingdon; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. at Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Rev. Jerry A. Eggers officiating. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery by 10:50 A.M. Family and friends will serve as honorary pallbearers. COVID-19 guidelines will be observed.
