Robert Keller Lowry III

ROBERT KELLER LOWRY, III, Abingdon, VA – Robert Lowry (Bobby), 91, passed away February 10, 2024, at his home with his family by his bedside. 


He was born December 27, 1932, in the Green Spring Community, Abingdon, son of Robert Keller Lowry, Jr. and Nancy Gray Lowry.


He was a member of the Green Spring Presbyterian Church and previously served as a deacon. He was a charter member of BSA Troup 70 at GSPC.  He lived his entire life in the Green Spring Community except for two years while serving in the U.S. Army with one year in Germany. He delivered milk for Pinemont Farms and sold real estate, but his passion was farming.  One of his hobbies was to do taxidermy projects of racoons and squirrels.


He was predeceased by his parents, brothers-in-law Earl Crosby, Charles Hutton, J.W. Combs (Jean), Henry Combs (Gertrude); and sisters-in-law Alice Kyle (Robert), Mary Jackson, Lola Denton (C.H.), Kathleen Combs, Mary Lou Combs and Karen Osborne Combs.


He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ann Combs Lowry, one son, Robert Keller Lowry, IV (Kel), two granddaughters, Sumer Lowry (Jacob Lawson) and Lindsey Lowry, one great granddaughter, Piper Lawson; three sisters, Elena Hutton, Mary Jane Crosby, and Susan E. Lowry, all of Abingdon, VA; four brothers-in-law, Dee Combs, Paul Combs, Howard Combs (Patty), Allen Combs and Sam Jackson; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Weaver (Joe), Shirley Combs (Walter Murray) and Irma Brown (Larry), all of Abingdon.  He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.


A visitation for Mr. Lowry will be at Frost Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. with the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Deidra Crosby and Rev. Jerry Eggers officiating.  Military honors and committal will follow in the Green Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery.  


Pallbearers will be Family and Friends.


Honorary Pallbearers are Preston Brown, Bucky Buchanan, John K. Clark, John Frierson, Johnny Lowry and Ricky Hall.  A special thanks to Jessie Baumgardner, Caregiver.


In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be made to the Green Spring Presbyterian Church, 22007 Green Spring Church Road, Abingdon, VA  24211.
