He was born in Washington County, Virginia to Martha Lee Love and James Spurgeon Edmondson. He attended East Tennessee State University and was in the ROTC.

Bobby grew up on a working dairy farm in Washington County, Virginia and spent many years cultivating the land and working in the dairy industry. He also spent time in logistics, as an owner and operator, and traveled throughout the nation. In retirement, he assisted his son with his construction business.

All of his life he loved being outside in nature and caring for animals. In his later years, he enjoyed riding his lawn mower and caring for the family lawns. He loved to cook and was known for his homemade ice cream with handpicked berries, fried chicken, grilled shrimp, green beans, and macaroni salad. He always looked forward to any gathering, especially the Edmondson and Love family reunions.

During his life he served on the Virginia Farmer Bureau Insurance Company Board. He was a member of Dairymen Incorporated. He was a member and served as President of the Desert Sands Shriners Club, Kazim Temple, Roanoke, VA. He was a 32nd degree Mason of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge, A.F. & A.M. of Virginia, Glade Spring Lodge #236, which consolidated with Chilhowie Lodge #250, and served twice as Worshipful Master. He was also on the Glass Advisory Council Board.

Bobby led a life of service to and for others. He was always willing to help a fellow farmer, neighbor, and friend. His final act of service and giving was as an organ donor.

He is survived by his wife, Marie, daughter, April (Todd) Peacock, son, Preston (Tammy) Edmondson, and grandchildren, Emily and Oliver Peacock.
