Ricky Lynn Carver, age 65, of Meadowview Virginia passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, Virginia from complications due to pneumonia and congestive heart failure.


Ricky was born on October 7, 1959, in Quantico, Virginia son of Bobby Wayne Carver and Edith Pauline Carver.


Ricky resided for most of his life in South Bend, Indiana. Ricky was a graduate of South Bend LaSalle Class of 77’ and went on to study Mechanical Engineering and Design at Indiana University Bloomington. After leaving Indiana University Ricky took on several interim jobs until he began his lifelong career as a design engineer at Hutchins Tool & Die. Ricky worked for several South Bend area design shops including Hess Industries and his latest employer Holbert Engineering. Throughout his career Ricky was blessed to have made many lifelong friendships and golf buddies.


In his leisure time, Ricky enjoyed traveling the U.S. while indulging in his favorite pastime on the many golf courses he patronized. In addition to golf and travel, he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family on vacations and weekend trips.

In 2021, Ricky relocated to Meadowview Virginia to be closer to his family, especially his nephew and niece. Ricky had the pleasure to see both complete college, begin new careers, and marry beginning their own families which brought him great joy.


Ricky began attending Life Line Ministries of Meadowview, Virginia where he enjoyed the fellowship of church family and the opportunity to invest in the younger generation. Ricky strongly believed in the value of good education and pushing all to be all they could be. Ricky was generous and had a big heart, often participating in programs to help the youth.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents Bobby and Pauline Carver. He is survived by a brother Richard Carver and wife Manisha, nephew Isaac Carver and wife Kaitlin, niece Hannah Williams and husband Trevor. Ricky also enjoyed special visits from his fur buddies Oakley and Remi Kate.


In lieu of flowers, family request you to consider a donation to Life Line Ministries Johnny Humphrey Scholarship Fund or donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (http://www.stjude.org) in Ricky’s name.


Funeral services are under direction of Frost Funeral Home, Abingdon Virginia. Visitation at 12:00 PM - 12:30 PM Tuesday February 18 with Memorial Service immediately following.


Ricky’s final resting place will be Forest Hills Hope Garden, committal service at 2:00 PM.
