Richard Eger, 81 of Abingdon, VA left this world June 23, 2024, for his eternal rest.


Richard was born November 6th ,1942 in Teaneck, NJ and was the oldest of six sons born to parents Herbert and Amy. 


He attended school in Budd Lake, NJ and graduated from West Morris Regional High School in Chester, NJ class of 1961 and served with the NJ National Guard during the Vietnam War.


Richard was a master carpenter by trade and was a retired journeymen member of Carpenters Union Local 620. His talents and experience of woodworking, building and construction were evident in his work, and he enjoyed working with his tools on renovation and building projects well into his active retirement.  He was a kind man who was well liked by all who knew him and was always helpful to those around him who needed guidance and assistance to complete a task or project. He will be deeply missed by his friends and family and will always be remembered. 


Richard is survived by his former wife Kathleen of Bangor, PA, two daughters, Amy of Abingdon, VA and her fiancé Jeremy Cantelli, Kathleen and her husband Roberto Flores of Bangor, PA; four grandchildren, Evelyn, Benjamin, River, Brook and his longtime companion, Bonnie Zilowey of Orlando, FL.   


He was predeceased by three brothers William, Lawrence and Robert; he is also survived by two brothers, John of Shippensburg, PA and James of Bangor, PA and many nieces and nephews.


The family will receive friends on Friday, June 28, 2024, from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. at Cleveland Evangelical Presbyterian Church. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 P.M. with Pastor Rick Laney officiating. Committal service will follow at Cleveland Presbyterian Evangelical Church.

So sorry to the family of Richard.prayers for you all. Richard was a neighbor to my daughter and son in law before they moved.He and Bonnie were sooo nice to them, especially during the passing of our grand daughter.I will never forget their kindness.
