Revonda Caudell Kestner Boardwine

Revonda Caudell Kestner Boardwine, 91, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, December 23, 2023, with her loving children by her side.


Revonda was born August 3, 1932, in Washington County, Virginia to the late Orville and Mary Wolfe Caudell.   She loved cooking, gardening, and working in her yard.  She adored her family and loved her Lord above all else.  Revonda was a devout Christian and member of Hayter’s Gap Community Church.   Her last request was for everyone to “Please brag on Jesus and warn my people of that awful place.”


In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Cecil Kestner; her second husband, Abram Boardwine; son, Alvin Kestner; three brothers, Ira, Talmadge “Shorty,” and William “Dub” Caudell. 


Revonda is survived by three daughters, Norma (Mike) Heller, Zelma (David) Boardwine, Malinda (Johnny) Dotson; two sons, Darrell (Karen) Kestner and Barry (Sharon) Kestner; daughter-in-law, Rita Kestner; two sisters, Opal Sword and Margaret (Herbert) Holmes; one brother, Troy (Ramona) Caudell; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; stepsons, Randy (Lori) Boardwine and Gary (Cheryl) Boardwine; eight step-grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren.  Revonda is also survived by several nieces and nephews.


The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 26, 2023, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Frost Funeral Home in Abingdon.  A funeral service will follow at 7:00 P.M. in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Silas Damron, Reverend Jim Odum, and Brother Dwayne Riddle officiating.   A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Caudell Family Cemetery, 25687 North Fork River Road, Saltville, Virginia, 24370.


Michael Heller, Arian Kestner, Waylon Boardwine, Derek Dotson, Jessie Parson, Andrew Jonas, Hayden Kestner, Ethan Parson, and Zack Wynegar will serve as pallbearers.   Great-grandsons and the men of Hayter’s Gap Community Church and Pine Hill Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.


The family will also receive friends anytime at Revonda’s home: 27103 Old Saltworks Road, Meadowview, Virginia, 24361


In lieu of flowers, Revonda requested donations be made in her memory to Hayter’s Gap Community Church, 25309 Hillandale Road, Abingdon, Virginia, 24210.


Frost Funeral Home and Cremation Services is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Revonda Caudell Kestner Boardwine.
