Rev. Terry Dale Fleenor

November 12, 1955 - July 3, 2024

Terry Dale Fleenor, 68, of Abingdon, Virginia left the pain of this world on July 3, 2024, after a sudden battle with cancer. He was surrounded by the love and presence of family and friends. He was born on November 12, 1955, to the late James and Winifreid Fleenor. In addition to his parents, he was greeted in heaven by his grandson, Ezra Gryffin Egan.

Terry is survived by his wife of 42 years, Suzi, whom he loved with an unwavering devotion. He was the best daddy to his daughter, Allison Egan and loved her husband Randall like his own son. The joy of his heart came in the form of his granddaughter, Aria Grace Egan, and Poppy was there to support her in everything she was part of, including being her virtual kindergarten teacher. He is also survived by his sister, Cheryl (Ken) Pope, brother-in-law Greg (Donna) Allison and nephew William, and several other nieces and nephews.

Terry was raised in the Wyndale area near Abingdon and continued living there his entire life. He graduated from John S. Battle High School and went on to study at King College. Upon graduation, he went back to Washington County Virginia Schools as a math teacher. He taught at John S. Battle High School and E.B. Stanley Middle School during his tenure.  Later, he was also a member of the School Board

Terry was also an avid sports fan. He was a senior league baseball coach, little league umpire, and high school referee for basketball and football when he was younger. He also loved to play golf, especially with a men’s group from his church. He and his wife Suzi loved to watch baseball, basketball, and football and he wore his love for the Chiefs proudly.

Terry worked at JCPenney in the mens department for many years before pursuing a calling he had felt for years to go into the ministry. He had taught the Senior Adult Sunday School class for years at Kingsway Baptist Church but continued to take seminary extension classes.  After joining Cassidy UMC, he began to pursue attaining his local pastor’s license. Upon completion, he was appointed to Okolona UMC and Chalybeate Springs UMC and served there for several years before appointment to Three Springs UMC in Bristol, Virginia. He was blessed beyond measure by these congregations where he was privileged to serve.

Terry loved Jesus and he loved his family. He strived to be at every event and celebration that was important to Suzi, Allison, and Aria and never failed to show them how proud he was of them. He worked tirelessly to care for others and show the grace and love of God as he stood up for the causes, he believed in without fail.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 07, 2024, at Frost Funeral Home. A service will follow at 7:00 P.M. with Rev. Donald Page, Rev. Jane Taylor, and Rev.
