Raymond Woodward

Abingdon, Virginia

Raymond Woodward, 85, joined his heavenly father on December 6, 2023.

Raymond was born December 29, 1937, to the late George Wilson and Oleta Frances Woodward. Raymond retired from the Teamsters after 30 years and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He worked hard his entire life, was an avid coon hunter, and enjoyed long rides on back country roads. Raymond loved his family, was dedicated, and enjoyed a good prank every now and then. He is loved very much and will be missed dearly.

In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by two daughters, Annette Lloyd and Audrey Woodward.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joyce Woodward; two daughters, Pam Grant (Wayne Grant) and Ramonda Smoot. Raymond is also survived by his grandchildren, Ciara Charles, Danielle Hofmann (Nick Hofmann), Jesse Smoot (Amber Nelson), Anthony Smoot, Patricia Smoot, Gabrielle Lloyd (Jordan Sullivan), Lindsay Lloyd (Dustin Royle), and several great-grandchildren. 

The family will receive friends Sunday, December 10, 2023, from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Frost Funeral Home in Abingdon.   A funeral service will follow at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel with Reverend Rex Carter officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens where full military honors will be rendered by the Air Force Honor Guard and the Marion VFW Post 4667.

Nick Hofmann, Jordan Sullivan, Dustin Royle, Scott Cox, Anthony Smoot, and Ray Bowman will serve as pallbearers.
