Randy Dean Rice, 63, of Abingdon, Va., passed away on Monday, January 18, 2021, at Ballad Hospice House following a courageous battle with cancer.
Randy was born in Asheville, NC, to the late Jaunita Reavis Rice and Fletcher Rice. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Leroy Revis and Donald Reavis. Randy was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran and a truck driver by trade. He was a former employee of KVAT Foods, Inc. where he drove for the past 15 years. Randy was an avid outdoorsman, John Wayne collector, and farmer who loved his horses.
Survivors include his fiancé, Mary Roberts Stinson (“Mary Poppins”) and her daughter, Missy Stinson; extended family and his beloved dog, Sadie Mae. Randy is also survived by his sister, Helen (Daryl) Coye; his brothers, Hormer (Margaret) Reavis, Bob (Joyce) Rice, Mike (Shelia) Rice all of the Weaverville/Mars Hill, NC area; beloved nieces and nephews, Jeff, Jimmy, Joseph, Jason, Stephania, Diana and Stephani and several great nieces and nephews.
Mr. Rice will be available for visitation at Frost Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, from 9:00 A.M. until 6 P.M. with the family being present to receive friends between 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. A private graveside service will be held on Wednesday at Chandler Cemetery in Mars Hill, NC., with family serving as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will the Transportation Dept. of KVAT Foods, Inc.
In lieu of flowers memorials gifts can be made to Ballad Hospice House, attn. Hospice, 1 Medical Park Blvd., Bristol, Tenn., 37620, or the American Legion Post #145, 515 Marion Ave., Bristol, Tenn., 37620.
In accordance with COVID-19 regulations, all those entering the funeral home are asked to wear face coverings and follow social distancing guidelines.
