Mr. Ralph Edward Cornett, 83, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2022, at NHC in Johnson City, TN.
Mr. Cornett was born May 20, 1939 in Damascus, Virginia to the late Elmer Roosevelt and Dessie Lee Fritz Cornett.
Ralph remained a life-long resident of Damascus, worked at Columbus McKinnon for 20 years, and loved to fish and coon hunt. He also served his community as the Chief of the Damascus Fire Department and member of the Damascus Life Saving Crew.
In addition to his parents, Ralph is preceded in death by one brother, Bob Cornett; grandson, Josh Cornett.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Alice Cornett of Damascus, Virginia; one son, Keith Cornett and wife Kay of Shady Valley, Tennessee; two daughters, Robin Powers and husband Keith of Damascus, Virginia, and Teresa Bebber and husband Tony of Damascus, Virginia; two brothers, John Cornett and wife Katie of Shady Valley Tennessee, and Jim Cornett and wife Barbara of Abingdon, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Latoshia Blackburn, Keshia Whitmire, Jeremy Cornett, Josh Cornett, Josh Bebber, Jessica Blankenship, and Kyle Powers; fourteen great grandchildren also survive.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, October 2, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus, Virginia with Dr. Dane Lee officiating. Those planning to attend are asked to arrive at the cemetery by 1:45 P.M.
Keith Powers, Kyle Powers, Keith Cornett, Jeremy Cornett, Tony Bebber, Josh Bebber, Josh Blackburn, and Benny Blankenship will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can made in Ralph’s honor to the Damascus Volunteer Fire Department, 210 W. Laurel Avenue, Damascus, Virginia, 24236.
