Raedean Kiesz

Raedean “Gramma” Kiesz, age 77, passed away on December 29, 2025, in Abingdon, Virginia. Born on June 21, 1948, in San Diego, California, Raedean brought warmth and creativity into the lives of those around her throughout her many years.

Raedean was preceded in death by her beloved husband Karl and her parents, Dean and Ray.

She is lovingly remembered by her brother Vern and his wife Sandy, daughter and son-in-law, Tami and Lou; granddaughter Jessica and her partner Kevin, granddaughter Journey; grandson John and his wife Connie; great-grandchildren Sydney and her husband Johnny, Mikey and his partner MacKenzie, and Amede; and great-great-grandson Atlas.

Known affectionately as “Gramma,” Raedean had a spirited personality that left a lasting impression. She had a passion for crafting—crocheting pieces with care and arranging flowers with an eye for beauty. Coloring brought her joy and relaxation, and she found delight in shopping.

A true lover of the holiday season, Raedean watched Christmas movies all year long—often multiple times—finding comfort and cheer in their familiar stories. Her sense of humor shone through even in everyday conversations; though very hard of hearing, she would nod as if she understood before making you repeat yourself—and then might change the subject entirely.

She will be deeply missed by those who knew her.
