Pauline “Blue” Gotham, 86, graduated to her heavenly home March 24, 2019 at Commonwealth Assisted Living in Abingdon, VA.
She was born August 14, 1932 to the late John Bagby Jr. and Pauline Aken Bagby. She was an educator most of her life, teaching all ages and grades, where she held different positions from teacher, principal, and director of the College of Older Adults. She was devoted to the care and enrichment of young people. She still had many students that would come by and see her on a regular basis. Ms. Gotham was also a member and Elder at Sinking Spring Presbyterian Church.
Including her parents, she is preceded in death by one brother, John Bagby III; one son, Michael Spencer Gotham.
Survivors include two daughters, Anne Gotham Thompson, Helen Gotham Henley and husband Michael; six grandchildren, Amy Henley, Amanda Henley Bedwell, Nathaniel Henley, Kelly Gotham Parks, William Spencer Gotham and Kathryn Drew Thompson; and ten great grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Sinking Spring Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Ron Gilmer and Pastor Mark Copley officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to Faith in Action, P.O. Box 2419, Abingdon, VA 24210 or to the youth group at Sinking Spring Presbyterian Church, 136 E Main St, Abingdon, VA 24210.
