SFC Paul Prater

SFC Paul Alton Prater, 78, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Friday, December 6, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Paul was born December 16, 1945, to the late James and Mary Katherine Davidson Prater.

He was a proud veteran and retired from the United States Army after many years of dedicated service.   He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Paul was member of Joy Baptist Church, and above all, his greatest legacy for his family will be that he was good and faithful servant of Christ.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Frost Funeral Home in Abingdon, Virginia.  A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Bradley Tilson and Pastor Jay Overbay officiating.  Military honors will be rendered by the United States Army Honor Guard and the Marion VFW Post 4667. Interment will be private.
