Paul B. Kirschner

Paul B. Kirschner, a veteran of the Vietnam war, age 73, passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2021, following a sudden illness.


He was born on October 26, 1948 to Andrew and Lora Kirschner in Buffalo, New York.

Paul was the definition of a self-made, man President of Virginia Insulated Products (VIP) of Saltville, Virginia. He was highly respected by his community, being a generous supporter of local arts and charities. Paul enjoyed golfing, travel and adventure, never met a stranger, and always had a joke to tell.


Paul was preceded in death by his parents.


He is survived by the love of his life, Pam Shumate Kirschner of Abingdon, Virginia; loving daughter, Lindsay Kirschner; grandsons, Logan and Conner of Atlanta, Geogria; step-daughters, Tara Shumate (Josh) of Abingdon, Virginia and Stephany Phillippi (Tyler); granddaughters, Ava and Eden of Bristol, Tennessee; sister, Sondra Alan (Riley) of Bristol, Virginia; several nieces and nephews.


He had a special connection with his “Circle O’ Friends” as well as Barbara Woodward of Saltville, Virginia, employees of VIP, and loved his farm dogs, Mikey an Elsie.


Paul’s motto was “Live life out loud.” Find joy in the beauty and blessing around you.


The family will receive visitors at Frost Funeral Home, 250 East Main Street, Abingdon, VA 24210, on Friday, November 12, 2021 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Gathering for a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.


A special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of wing 3200 of Johnston Memorial Hospital. The family felt the warmth given with his excellent care; it was appreciated.
