Oscar Ruddy Edwards

Oscar Ruddy Edwards, of Bristol, Va., loving husband, brother, father and grandfather passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Jean Huffman Edwards in November 2017. He was born on July 6, 1938, in Russell County, Va., to the late George D. Edwards and Goldie G. Gibson Edwards.

On June 8, 1959 he married, Lois J. Huffman Edwards and together they had two daughters. He started working at the Lebanon Newspaper in Lebanon, Va., at an early age to help support his family. He continued to work at area newspapers throughout the years. He also worked at the Falconer Printing Co. and other companies later in life.

He is survived by two daughters, Gina Edwards of West Virginia and Amelia Crusenberry and husband Phillip of Bristol, Va.; three grandchildren, William Shaffer, Hannah Faber and Emma Crusenberry; two great grandchildren, Daylun and Kaydence. He is also survived by four sisters, Ann Harrison of Honaker, Va., Laura Jefferies of Riverside, Ca., Billie Lasley of Lebanon, Va., and Ruby Painter of Richmond, Va.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2:45 p.m. Sunday, March 25, 2018, in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Jerry A. Eggers and Rev. Luther W. Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in High Point Cemetery, Bristol, Va.

Pallbearers will be nephews and friends.
