Norene E. Henry, a beloved wife, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on April 16, 2023, in Newark, Delaware, at the age of 94. She was born on December 12, 1928, in Abingdon, Virginia, to parents Howard and Myrtle Duncan. Norene lived in Newark, Delaware since 1955 after marrying her husband, John R Henry. She had a loving marriage to John until his passing in 1988 and continued to honor his memory throughout her life. Though they did not have children of their own, Norene and John started raising her younger siblings at a young age and provided them with a loving and supportive home. She was also a devoted homemaker and enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. Norene was the oldest of seven children, having three brothers and three sisters. Two of her brothers, Walter (Faye) Duncan and Gene (Edith) Duncan, preceded her in death. Her surviving siblings are Frances (John) Lee, Betty (Ray) Wolfe, Howard (Lucy) Duncan, and Geraldine (Don) Minnick. Norene, who was affectionately called "Aunt Rene" by her loved ones, had many adoring nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews whom she adored and cherished. She was deeply devoted to her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Despite being on dialysis for 12 years, Norene remained strong and resilient. Her strength and determination inspired those around her. She was a true fighter until the very end. A visitation will be held in honor of Norene on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, from 6-7 pm at Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home in Newark, Delaware, with a brief prayer service at 7 pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 1 PM at Frost Funeral Home, 250 E. Main St., Abingdon, Virginia 24210. Burial will follow in Knollkreg Memorial Park.
