Noel E. (Mac) McMillan, age 94, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at the Veterans Administration, Mountain Home, Tennessee.
He was born July 30, 1928, in Milburn, West Virginia, a son of the late Jessee Herbert McMillan and Pocahontas Fleming McMillan. He was a graduate of Kingston High School in Kingston, West Virginia. Immediately after high school, he entered the United States Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1948. He moved to Lebanon, Virginia in 1958 with Appalachian Power Company and help start the Clinch River Plant at Carbo, Virginia. He retired as Maintenance Supervisor after several years of service. He and his family moved to Abingdon in 1972. He was a faithful member of Greendale Chapel and had served as Deacon, Elder, Sunday School Teacher and Sunday School Superintendent. He was a humble Christian who faithfully loved and served the Lord. He was a prayer warrior and will be greatly missed by his family, church family, and friends. Our loss is Heaven’s gain.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Irene B. McMillan; three brothers and one sister.
Survivors include three daughters, Peggy Rasnake of Cincinnati, OH, Linda Baum and husband Blaine of Bristol, VA, and Rita Denise McMillan of Gallatin, TN; four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, thirteen great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Friday, June 23, 2023, at 7 P.M. at Greendale Chapel with Rev. Jerry A. Eggers officiating. The family will receive friends at the Church from 5:30 P.M. until time of the funeral service. The graveside service will be held Saturday, June 24, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 A.M. Men of Greendale Chapel will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to Greendale Chapel, P. O. Box 1314, Abingdon, VA 24212.
