Nila Ruth Rose

Updated: May 27

Abingdon, Virginia

After living 86 years of adventure on this earth, Nila Ruth Rose has rejoined the love of her life Larkin Nelson Rose and they are once again walking hand in hand. Nila Ruth (Moretz) Rose moved beyond this mortal existence on Friday, May 24th, 2024.

While her family grieves the loss tremendously and deeply, they are finding comfort in knowing she is lovingly embraced in her husband’s arms, smiling and laughing, as they have been apart for so long. A spitfire until the day she ascended, Nila loved fiercely, laughed wildly, and cared profoundly. She was a sanctuary to all who needed her and believed family was more than simple biology.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Larkin Rose; grandchildren,  Nikki Rose and Jeremy Rose, as well as her siblings. We are certain they are all fishing on a heavenly riverbank already.

Among those who will dance with her again one day, she is survived by her children; Debra Rose (Graham) Elvish, David (Tanya) Rose, Charles Rose, Pamela (Kenny) Palmer, and grandchildren; Leanne Walker, Joshua Rose, Jordan Rose, and Sabrina Rose. Nila is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren.

Nila will be laid to rest in a private graveside service at her request at Greenwood Cemetery with Reverend Junior Gobble to officiate.

The Rose family would like to give special thanks to Kenny Hensdill, Harvey Vestal, Diane White, and Susie Brickey for the years of care, love, and attention they gave to Nila. She looked forward to your visits and conversations with great excitement and loved you very much.

May every song of a bird, wafting scent of coffee, and rustle of the wind renew our memories and stir our souls to the reminder of her love. She will live on within each of us, until we meet again.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in Nila’s honor to the Bridge Home No Kill Animal Rescue, PO Box 654 Blountville, TN, 37617 or to the Margaret B. Mitchell Spay and Neuter Clinic.

Frost Funeral Home and Cremation Services is honored to serve the family of Ms. Nila Rose.
