Nancy Lois Prater Little

November 11, 1960—July 12, 2025

Nancy Lois Prater Little passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025. Born on November 11, 1960, to the late Roy McKinley and Virginia Humphrey Prater.

 Nancy was well known for her many years of love, compassion, and dedication, she touched the lives of countless children and families through her long-standing work in childcare. With a heart as big as a garden, Nancy found joy in nurturing not only young minds but the flowers that bloomed under her green thumbs. Her love for gardening was matched only by her devotion to her family and the children she helped raised, many of whom lovingly called her a second mom.

Nancy will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her patience, and her kindness that guided her every day. She leaves behind a legacy of love, learning, and growth.

She is preceded in death by her daughter Amy Little; parents Roy and Virginia Prater; sister Mary Louthian; and grandson Aiden Little.

She was the beloved wife of Ronald Little with whom she shared 43 years of marriage. Together they built a life centered around love. She was the proud mother of Dustin and Nicole Little of Glade Spring, Virginia.

Nancy is also survived by her three sisters Ann Jenkins (Chester), Linda Osborne (Lionel), and Pam Puckett (Mark); one brother Mike Prater; and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Frost Funeral Home Chapel in Abingdon, Virginia with a funeral service to follow at 7:00 P.M. with Charles Deboard and Nick Shortridge officiating. Committal service will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Old Glade Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Glade Spring, Virginia.
