Mr. James Clay Coen Hughes, II, age 59 passed away on March 13, 2023.
Jim was a native of Abingdon, VA and graduate of Abingdon High School in 1981. Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Carl Vinson. Jimmy was a Christian and a member of Abingdon Baptist Church and attended Riverdale Baptist Church in Roanoke, VA. He was a loving son, brother and uncle. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, and watching NASCAR.
Jimmy is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Wyvill (Colin); parents, Jim and Peggy Hughes; two sisters, Beth Endean (Bill) and Mary Oley (Mike); two grandsons, Colin and Hunter Wyvill; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends Friday, March 17, 2023, from 5:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at Frost Funeral Home in Abingdon. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 P.M. in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bill Bryan officiating. Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with full military honors being rendered by the Highlands Honor Guard and the United States Navy. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 9:45 A.M.
Active Pallbearers will be Mike Oley, Bill Endean, Bo Endean, Billy Endean, Denny Farmer and Ken Farmer.
