Mildred Louise Campbell, 84, passed away peacefully March 13, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born and lived in Russell County until moving to Abingdon with her late husband, Jack. She was the daughter of the late Burl and Hattie Rasnake. She worked in the health care system. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed watching Living Faith and CNN.
She is preceded in death by her husband Franklin “Jack” Campbell; her parents, Burl and Hattie Rasnake; two brothers, James and Larry Rasnake; and one son-in-law, Paul Campbell.
Mildred is survived by her children, Jackie and Scott Barton of Abingdon, Darrell and Charlotte Campbell of Chester, South Carolina, Sandi Campbell and companion Brian Spears of Gastonia, North Carolina; three sisters, Vivian “Joney” Rasnake of Cleveland, Virginia, Janette Bennett of Salisbury, North Carolina, and Judy Neal of St. Paul, Virginia; six grandchildren, Zachary and Katie Barton, Justin and Abby Barton, Caitlin and Christian, Jessica and Evan Hurd, Rusty and Jennifer Campbell, Jonathan and Christy Campbell; four great-grandchildren, Abby, Ben, Kensleigh, and Ellie. Mildred is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday, March 16, 2024, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Frost Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Sunday, March 17, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at Frost Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Eddie Gobble officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens in Abingdon, Virginia.
Donnie Rasnake, Brian Bennett, Travis Stanley, Jerry Camper, Jimmy Hess, and Michael Ball will serve as pallbearers.
Joey Stanley, Jeff Neal, and Joseph Bennett will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Gentiva Hospice, Emily Cullop, and Jessica Hurd for all the loving kindness during Mildred’s illness.
