Michael Monroe "Mike" Lloyd

Michael Monroe “Mike” Lloyd, age 61, of Meadowview, VA, passed away peacefully at home on August 2, 2025. Born on September 10, 1963, in Abingdon, VA, he was the youngest son of the late Garnett and Joann Lloyd of Emory, VA.

Mr. Mike was a beloved member of the community and a dedicated custodian at Meadowview Elementary School, where he worked for 21 years. Mr. Lloyd was a dedicated member of the Meadowview Elementary family for over 20 years. More than just a custodian, he was a friendly face, a helping hand, and a quiet hero who took great pride in caring for our school and everyone in it. His warmth, kindness, and commitment to our community will be deeply missed.

He was a strong believer and follower of Christ, and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Glade Spring, VA.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Garnett and Joann Lloyd of Emory, VA; brother, Steven Lloyd of Honaker, VA; and grandparents, Robert & Pearl Lloyd of Meadowview, VA and James Ted & Bessie Thomas of Glade Spring, VA.

Mike is survived by his brothers: Tommy Lloyd of Meadowview, VA; Bobby & Robin Lloyd of Saltville, VA; Gary & Wanda Lloyd of Glade Spring, VA; David & Betty Lloyd of Abingdon, VA; Donnie & Sue Lloyd of Chilhowie, VA; sister-in-law, Connie Lloyd of Honaker, VA; Logan and Miranda McVey whom he raised as his own; he is also survived by nieces, nephews, and extended family & friends; and his special K-9 companion, Penelope.

A graveside service to celebrate Mike’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Rush Creek Cemetery in Glade Spring, VA with Pastor David Gary and Minister Jon Sells officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:45 A.M.
