Merkia “Granny” Magaline Eller Johnson, 86, passed away on September 21, 2023, at her home.
She was born on April 25, 1937, in Smyth County Virginia to the late Clarence Eller and Ora Testerman Eller. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was loved by all.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one sister and five brothers and a special grandson, Timothy Chapman.
Merkia is survived by her husband of 67 years, Ralph Johnson; one daughter, Kathy Johnson; three sisters, Iris Pennington, Phyllis Nallion, and Susan Hall; two grandchildren, Cody Johnson and Amanda Munoz; five great-grandchildren: Joshua Johnson, Noah Munoz, Ramiro Munoz, Marcella Munoz, and Pablo Munoz. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Monday, September 25 from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Frost Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM at the Frost Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Darrell Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Rose Cemetery in Glade Spring, VA.
Cody Johnson, Joshua Johnson, Ramiro Munoz, J.D. Hall, Terry Nallion, and Catalino Juan will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ramiro Munoz, Jr. and Noah Munoz.
