Maxie Gay Childers, 101, went to be with the Lord on August 23, 2024 at Abingdon Health and Rehab. Maxie was born October 06, 1922 in Abingdon, Virginia, to the late Curtis and Lilly Wright Warren.
She loved to go out shopping with her family. Maxie loved to be able to prepare food for people, and spending time in her bible and going to church. Above all, she loved spending time with her family. Maxie will be remembered as a beloved daughter, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister.
Including her parents, Maxie was preceded in death by, her first husband, Robert Clifton; second husband, Sherman Childers; sister, Thelma Holmes; six brothers, Henry, Fred, William, Johnny, June, and Milt; one step- daughter, Janice Martin; and son-in-law, Homer Sexton.
Those left to cherish her life and many memories include two daughters, Doris Sexton, and Peggy Pippin and husband Roy; one step-daughter, Gladys Lewis; step-son, Steve Childers; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 27,2024 at Knollkreg Memorial Park with Rev. Buster Mullins and Pastor Les Ketron officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:45 A.M.
