Max Junior “Pety” Gill, 86, a lifelong resident of Washington County, Va., passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at his home.


was preceded in death by the love of his life, Darlene Dye Gill in 1976; brothers, Coy, Clayton, Ross, Carl and Doc; sisters, Mavis, Gladys and Geneva.


He began his career with Tipton Construction Company in 1958 and served as the office manager and vice president. Pety enjoyed his 1929 Model A and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He was of the Baptist faith.


Survivors include his sons, Terry Gill, Allen Gill and wife Brenda, and Darrell Gill and wife Sherry; grandchildren, Jennifer, Adam, Dustin, Jesse, Donald and Daniel; three great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Cheryl and Hugh Cobb.


The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staffs of Caris Healthcare and Bristol Rehab for the care shown to Mr. Gill.


A committal service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at the Forest Hills Memory Gardens Pavilion with Rev. Jerry A. Eggers officiating. Those attending are asked to gather at the cemetery by 1:45 p.m.


Pallbearers will be Dustin Gill, Terry Gill, Hunter Harrington, Will Galliher, Danny Gill and Dustin Eads. Honorary pallbearer will be Mike Gill.


In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Niswonger Children’s Hospital, 1019 West Oakland Avenue, Suite 2, Johnson City, TN 37604.
