Mattie Lee Kestner Stewart, 88, of Abingdon, VA. went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 13, 2021.
She was born to the late George Edgar Kestner and Arvilla Katherine Pauley Kestner on August 7, 1932 in Saltville, VA.
In addition to her parents, Mattie was also preceded in death by her husband, William “Clifford” Stewart and a son, Ronald Lynn Stewart.
She is survived by four sons, Johnny “Jeb” Stewart, Jerry Stewart, Jimmy Stewart (Kathy Black), and Billy Stewart (Lisa) all of Abingdon, VA.; one daughter, Amy Stewart Turner (Travis); eleven grandchildren, Amanda Sills, Amanda Johnson (Josh), Karen George (Fred), Josh Stewart (Alicia), Katelyn Stewart, Mattie Lou Grey, Taylor Keene (Cody), Will Stewart, Mattelyn Turner, Sara Kate Turner, and Zeke Stewart; eight great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at 1 PM at Knollkreg Memorial Park with Pastor Donald Thayer officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:45 PM.
Serving as pallbearers will be Fred George, Cody Keene, Zeke Stewart, Josh Stewart, Will Stewart, Noah Sills, Lucas Smith, and Josh Johnson.
The family wishes to express special appreciation to the staff at Greendale Home for their loving care of “Granny” as well as all of the caregivers from Home Nursing Service and Abingdon Ambulance Service that have taken such good care of Mattie over the years.
In accordance with COVID-19 regulations, all those attending services are asked to wear face coverings and follow social distancing guidelines.
