Mary Thayer Greer, went to be with her heavenly father on Tuesday, January 18, 2022.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Maude Thayer; husband, Ernest H. Greer; and sisters, Eula Thayer and Eva Dumm.
She was a graduate of Bethel High School class of 1942.
Mary was one of the oldest lifetime members of Washington Chapel United Methodist Church on Walden Road where she was an active and faithful member for many years.
She was an active volunteer at Johnston Memorial Hospital for over 50 years and accumulated over 25,000 service hours. In 1982, she received the lifetime membership pin from the auxiliary and 1991 was named volunteer of the year. She enjoyed volunteering at the information desk seeing old friends and making new ones. Mary had the privilege of signing the final steel beam for the new hospital before it was installed.
Mary would like to express special thanks to her family, caring friends and neighbors that were helpful to her in many ways.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda Larkey; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, January 29, 2022, in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Larry Lusk officiating. Interment will follow in Knollkreg Memorial Park. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts are suggested to the American Cancer Society in her name.
