Mary Katherine Eller Lane

Mary Eller Lane, age 89, died Thursday, April 29, 2021, at Cambridge Hills Assisted Living, Roxboro, NC.


Mrs. Lane graduated from Marion High School in Marion, VA, and attended East Tennessee State University. She was a devoted mother and homemaker. She taught pre-school at Rose of Sharon Baptist Church in Durham, NC before her retirement.


Mrs. Lane was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Jesse Clayton Lane, and her son, Jesse Calvin Clay Lane.


Mrs. Lane is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Katherine Lane of Durham, NC, sons, Arthur Keith Lane of Timberlake, NC and Stephen Eller Lane and wife Kim of Durham, NC; former daughter-in-law, Terry Bordeaux Lane; sister, Martha Eller Rodgers Worley of Franklin, TN, and sister, Anne Eller Wilkerson (Jack) of Crozet, VA. Seven grandchildren, David Lane and wife Mariana, Daniel Lane and wife Zeina, Jenna Katherine Baggett, Andrew Baggett, Jordan McAdams, Jeremy McAdams and Mary Elizabeth McAdams; four great-grandchildren, Nicholas Lane, Eric Lane, Luke Lane and Hannah Lane; and many nieces and nephews.


The family would like to thank the staff of Cambridge Hills Assisted Living for their loving care of Mary Lane over the years she lived there. The family would also like to thank her roommate Mrs. Dorothy Long and family for their love and care. Mary had many great physicians through the years; Dr. John Sampson, Dr. Robert Smith, Dr. Gregory Helton, and others who provided excellent health care for her.


The family will receive family and friends on Friday, May 7th at Frost Funeral Home, Abingdon, VA from 12 - 1 pm followed by a service at 1 pm. Graveside services will also be held on May 7th at 3 pm at Rose Lawn Cemetery, Marion, VA. Rev. Kenneth Price will be officiating.


In accordance with COVID-19 state regulations, mask will be required for services and social distancing practices should be observed.
