Mary Catherine Vannoy Dunn




Glade Spring, VA


Mary Catherine Vannoy Dunn was born October 8th, 1940 in Washington County Virginia. She lived most of her adult life in Northern Virginia where she worked at Loehmann's Dress Shop for 32 years. After she retired, she moved back to Washington County Virginia where she spent the last 22 years watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren enjoy life. She loved playing bingo and contributing to the Virginia lottery. She went to be with the Lord in the early morning hours October 21st, 2022 at Johnston Memorial Hospital.


She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Della Vannoy; son, Robert "Bobby" Dunn; grandson Justin Morris; daughter, Deborah "Sissy" Dunn Canter; six brothers, Frank, Jim, Jack, John Jr, George, Billy; and three sisters,Betty, Louise, Etta.


She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Harold Dunn; daughter, Theresa Dunn Morris; granddaughters, Jessica Faidley and husband Josh, and Shana Hancock and husband Brian; grandson, Ryan Canter; and eight great grandchildren, Tristan, Kairi, Leland, Sara, Brantley, Liam, Tyrion and Xander; three sisters, Sueann Tuell, Becky Dunn, and Roberta Vannoy; many nieces and nephews; a very special friend and neighbor, Rae Arduini, from Northern Virginia that chose to spend many Christmas' with Mary and her family in the mountains; and several beloved neighbors.


A graveside service will be held on at 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 24, 2022 at Sunset Memorial Park, Damascus, VA. with Rev. Jason Dunn and Rev. Rick Vannoy officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:45 A.M.


Pallbearers will be, Curtis Vannoy, Jason Dunn, Ethan Dunn, Josh Faidley, Tristan Faidley, and Brian Hancock.


Honorary Pallbearers will be, Leland Hancock, Brantley Hancock, Sara Faidley, Liam Faidley, and Tyrion Faidley.


In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Judges Children's Hospital.
