Martha Kay Roberts Stout, age 77, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, VA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bert Alderson Roberts and Lillian Berry Roberts as well as her brother, John Bennett Roberts Sr.
Mrs. Stout is survived by her husband of 54 years, Donald (D.L.) Stout and daughter, Melinda Stout Jett (Joseph Bruce Jett) of Abingdon, VA; as well as two very special granddaughters, Amanda Bishop and Ashton Bishop, both of Abingdon, VA. She is also survived by one sister, Peggy Roberts McPherson of Montgomery, AL and one first cousin, Ann Roberts Minton of Abingdon. She is also survived by seven nieces and one nephew.
Mrs. Stout was a graduate of Bethel High School and attended Radford University.
She had been a loving caregiver for her parents and grandmothers. She was a lifelong member of the Bethel Presbyterian Church.
The family would like to thank the wonderful nursing staff of Johnston Memorial Hospital’s Progressive Care Unit as well as the staff at the Cancer Center at Johnston Memorial.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 pm on Sunday, May 26 at Bethel Presbyterian Church. A funeral service will be held following visitation at the church at 3:00 pm with Rev. Jim Walker and Rev. Jerry A. Eggers officiating, with a burial immediately following.
