Mark L. Roberts, 61, of Damascus, Va., passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020, at Johnston Memorial Hospital.
He was the son of the late Ronald Roberts and Eileen Roberts. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his uncle, Hoil Houck and aunt, June Houck.
Mark retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation in 2017, after 40 years of service. He was also a train and railway enthusiast.
Mark was a member of Liberty Hall Masonic Lodge #104 in Damascus, Va., and a 32nd degree Scottish rite mason. He was a Shriner of the Kazim Temple out of Roanoke, Va., since 1981. Mark was also an honorary member of the Kazim Desert Sands Shrine Club and a member of the abnormal parade unit.
Survivors include his daughter, Kaitlyn Minnick and fiancé Jeffrey Davidson of Abingdon, Va.
The family wishes to express their thanks to Mark’s many friends and neighbors for their support during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Mark’s name to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 628 West Campbell Ave., Roanoke, Va., 24016.
Due to the pandemic, a private service will be held for the immediate family only.
