Marion Ray Hunter

Marion Ray Hunter, 91, of Abingdon, Virginia. left this earthly world to be with his heavenly Father on April 5, 2022.


He was the last surviving child of the late Weaver and Lessie Hunter of North Carolina.


Mr. Hunter served in the U.S. Air Force and later retired from Centel Corporation. He was not only a member but a leader of Sinking Spring Presbyterian Church.


It’s easy to say that Mr. Hunter has touched many lives. His infectious smile, positive outlook, and genuine humor will forever be missed but the guidance and cheer he left with all of those he met will live with them forever.


Including his parents, he was preceded in death by, sisters, Elenor Couch and Edith Serra; and brother, Hilburn Hunter.


He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Hamm Hunter of Abingdon, Virginia.; several nieces and nephews on both sides of the family who will forever be grateful for his presence in their lives.


A visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. on Friday, April 8, 2022 at Sinking Spring Presbyterian Church with a service following at 6:00 P.M. with Pastor Kevin Campbell officiating. A committal service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:45 A.M.
